So, I cast on the 375 stitches for Ene.
It took the better part of an hour, and for some reason, which I now know, the directions state to cast on with a double strand of yarn.
The reason for this is a) a looser cast on and b) more "girth" to those points at the bottom of the shawl. I fear I may have used HALF a skein for the cast on alone.
But the yarn is gorgeous...the color, texture, hand...though if I stab it the wrong way with the addi lace needle, it does have a tendency to split.
I'm about halfway through the first chart and so far, it is easy peasy.
Will keep on truckin'

January 1
Today I cast on shawl #1
Shawl: Ene
Published in: Scarf Style
Yarn: Blue Sky Alpaca Silk (I bought 5 skeins, which should be PLENTY!)
Purchased at: Loop
Color: Garnet, 138
Needle Size: 5
I've been ready for this for about three weeks now; and trying hard to get as much of Girasole done BEFORE 10 in 2010 starts. (PS I've finished chart "d" of Girasole and have a whopping 630 stitches on my needles!)
Tonight, after loading up at the Diner, I will pull out the blown up charts, wound up yarn, addi lace needles and cast on the >300 stitches called for to start Ene.
I'm not overwhelmed by her--and in fact think I should be able to get through her pretty fast.
Trish will be joining me on some (most) of my 10 in 2010 journey...She too will be starting with Ene---photos to follow
